Sintered corundum (also known as plate-shaped corundum) is made from imported industrial alumina as raw material and rapidly sintered in an ultra-high temperature vertical kiln. The microstructure of the fully developed granular corundum crystals is closely arranged, with a wide range of crystal sizes and numerous intergranular and intragranular pores. It has the characteristics of high purity, low alkali, high strength, high resistance to thermal shock, and corrosion resistance. It is mainly used as aggregate and fine powder for alumina based and alumina containing refractory materials, and is widely used in industries such as metallurgy (such as ladle lining, sliding plate, breathable brick, seat brick, and continuous casting "three major components"), ceramics, petrochemicals, glass, etc.
